Xiaomi has revealed that the Redmi 10 Prime will be released in the country on September 3. They have been teasing a Redmi phone for the last few days but have now revealed the phone and launch date.
They also revealed that it will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 budget gaming chipset. This generated some reactions as the ‘Prime’ variant of the Redmi series usually comes with a different chipset from the global version. The global version of the Redmi 10 Prime is the Redmi 10 and it comes with a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset.
Even if we compare the last year’s model, the Redmi 9 Prime comes with a Mediatek Helio G80 chipset while its global variant, the Redmi 9, comes with a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset. It is not as if the G88 chipset shouldn’t be used on the Redmi 9 Prime but that’s an unfamiliar move.
If the Redmi 10 Prime is announced today in India, it will make it the first device with a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset in the Indian smartphone market. The Helio G88 is a good chipset that comes with an LPPDR4x RAM, eMMC 5.1 storage, and a 90Hz screen refresh rate support.
It also supports up to 64-megapixel cameras, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0. The Redmi 10 Prime is teased to come with a huge upgrade over its predecessor – Redmi 9 Prime. It will likely arrive with the same design as the global Redmi 10 and specifications.
For example, it may feature a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with an FHD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It may come with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection upfront. The phone might also come in 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM version as well as 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM.
