After a whole lot of leaks and rumours, Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro tablets. This is coming after three years the company unveiled the Mi Pad 4, that it is, in 2018. The tablet is currently available in China, there is no word on its global availability.
The Mi Pad 5 series takes on the iPad Pro with its amazing features. They come with a keyboard and a stylus. Both the Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro has a lot in common, both aesthetically and internally.
They come with a 6.9mm thickness, weighs 511 and 515 grams respectively. They are made from aluminium with flat edges. On the front, they have an 11-inches display size with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
The display is an LCD panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR 10, wide colour gamut, and a true tone technology. They are running on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 user interface.
Under the hood, the Mi Pad 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 860 chipset, paired with a 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Mi Pad 5 Pro on the other hand is powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB storage.
At the rear, the Pad 5 comes with a 13MP camera that can record in 4K UHD at 30FPS and an 8MP selfie camera upfront. The Pad 5 Pro comes with a 50 MP primary camera on the 5G model and a 13MP sensor on the W-Fi only model.
There is a 5MP depth sensor as well and the rear cameras can record in 4K UHD. It also has an 8MP selfie camera. Sound quality-wise, the Pad 5 makes use of 4 speakers while the Pad 5 Pro makes use of 8 speakers.
The Pad 5 has an 8,720mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging while the Pad 5 Pro has an 8,600mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.
As for pricing, Mi Pad 5 starts at CNY 1,999 (~$308) for the base variant with 6GB+128GB storage, CNY 2,299 (~$354) for the 256GB storage model.
The Mi Pad 5 Pro starts at CNY 2,499 (~$385) for the base 6GB+128GB variant, CNY 2,799 (~$432) for the 256GB storage option and CNY 3,499 (~$540) for the 8GB+256GB storage option.
