Windows 11 was announced last week, and while it won’t begin rolling out to users until later this year, Microsoft has released a preview for insiders. Since that happened, we have seen the new operating system gets ported to a number of devices it wasn’t designed for. The latest device to get the Windows 11 treatment is the OnePlus 6T.
The OnePlus 6T was released in 2018 and runs Android. Interestingly, some developers have been able to install Windows 11 on the phone, thanks to the ARM64 build released for Windows on ARM devices.
As reported by XDA Developers, those behind this interesting feat are the developers behind the Renegade Project, and they have made a video showing how they got Windows 11 running on the phone which was originally running Windows 10. You can watch the 13-minute long video below.
It has been reported that among the features that they got partially working include the touchscreen, the USB, and GPU, while Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and audio out via the speaker didn’t work. That is understandable considering Windows 11 wasn’t designed to run on the phone.
The team of developers have also got some PC games running on the phone such as Crysis, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Mafia, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and GTA IV. They have put together a spreadsheet to show the list of games they tried and it also includes the resolution and frame rate of those that worked successfully.
In just a few days, we have seen Windows 11 get ported to the Xiaomi Mi 8 and the Lumia 950 XL. What device do you want to see the OS run on next? Let us know in the comment box.
