The Redmi 9 is one of the best-selling smartphones worldwide. The handset debuted with MIUI 11 based on Android 10. The device was updated to MIUI 12 last year but it is yet to receive the MIUI 12.5 update. Ahead of that, Xiaomi started rolling out the Android 11 update in China earlier last month. Now, this update is being slowly seeded out to international variants.
The Android 11 update for the Redmi 9 initially went live for the Chinese version at the beginning of June. Last week, Xiaomi released the build for the ‘Global’ variant. Today, the update has even started rolling out to the ‘EEA’ variant.
The Redmi 9 Android 11 update for the ‘Global’ and the ‘EEA’ versions arrive with build numbers V12.0.1.0.RJCMIXM and V12.0.1.0.RJCEUXM respectively. These software builds are being rolled out in batches and should reach all units in the coming days.
Similarly, the remaining regional variants of this handset shall also start receiving the Android 11 update very soon. Also, it is worth noting that this smartphone is known as Redmi 9 Prime in India. That device will be also getting the last year’s Android update.
Last but not least, we also expect Xiaomi to release MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi 9 in the near future.
