Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro have been the most selling Xiaomi smartphones since 2019. So a lot of people acquired this very smartphone. A few months later after its release, Google announced the new OS Android 10 which one of its best features is dark mode. And you know, a lot of people have been craving for dark mode features on their Android phones.
In fact, it is through feedback from users that made Google include dark mode feature in Android 10. After Google released this new operating system, a lot of smartphone companies started to push the update to their various smartphones and Xiaomi is one of them.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro got Android 10 first before the standard Redmi Note 8. Redmi Note 8 just recently got its own Android 10 in November 2020 while the Pro version got its own very early this year. As Xiaomi stated in their policy, Redmi Note 8 and the Pro version are limited to one operating system update.
This means that Redmi Note 8 series is eligible for only Android 10, they won’t get Android 11 but however, they will surely receive MIUI 13 updates. A new report we received shows that Xiaomi seemed to have had a rethink as the report shows they are testing Android 11 in the Redmi Note 8 series.
[Good News] 😍😍😍
Redmi Note 8 & Redmi Note 8 Pro Will Get Android 11. pic.twitter.com/EDONRJG6GC— Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) November 23, 2020
The report came from a screenshot Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), an Indian leaker shared on Twitter. The screenshot contains a conversation from an unofficial Xiaomi & MIUI news Telegram group, and it says that Xiaomi has begun Android 11 internal tests for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Xiaomi hasn’t said anything about this and as you can see, it is coming from an unofficial telegram group. So you are advised to take this with a pinch of salt. If it turns out to be true, we don’t expect the updates to arrive until much later next year. Xiaomi has several phones that are scheduled to get Android 11 as their first OS upgrade, so these devices will get priority over the Redmi Note 8 series.
