It seems like Sony will launch a new compact smartphone very soon. The case renders of the Sony Xperia Ace 2 has appeared online. It shows that the smartphone will come with a rear vertical module housing two cameras and an LED flash. The side of the phone reveals that it will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, volume rockers, and what looks like a camera shutter button.
The phone looks very small and that is why it could be called Sony Xperia compact globally. Reports said that it will be called Xperia Ace 2 in its home country Japan. It will likely have a 5.5 inches display size. The case didn’t clearly reveal the top of the display so we can’t tell if it will sport a punch hole cut-out or just a thick bezel upfront.
However, previous renders by Steve Hemmerstoffer (also known as OnLeaks) shows that it will arrive with a water-drop notch design. As for specs, not much is known about the phone. Past leaks revealed that it will come powered by the Snapdragon 690 chipset. Information that appeared in January also revealed that it may feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
Sony Xperia Ace specs
Sony Xperia Ace 2 will be succeeding the Xperia Ace launched in 2019. The older Ace comes with a 5-inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It is powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset which uses an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. It has an SD card slot expandible up to 512GB.
The older Ace has an 8MP selfie camera and a 13MP rear camera. It shoots video in 1080p@30fps. What is keeping the light on is a 2700mAh battery capacity without fast charging support. As you can see, the new Ace 2 seems like it will be improved. In comparison, the leak says the new Ace will come with a 5.5 inches display and a Snapdragon 690 chipset. It will also have a dual rear camera.
