Oppo A74 5G has appeared on Geekbench which revealed some of its specs. From the specs, this seemed like an entry-level level device. It will be succeeding the A73 5G from last year. However, the chipset seems to be downgraded on the A74 5G compared to last year.
This is not the first time we are seeing the Oppo A74. The smartphone has been spotted on NBTC Thailand certification before which shows that it is coming in 4G and 5G variants. NBTC certification reveals that the 4G version has the CPH2219 model number while the 5G version has the CPH2197 model number.
The one with the CPH2197 model number, which is the 5G variant, has just appeared on the Geekbench database. Geekbench revealed that it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset that has a base clock speed of 1.8GHz. While the name of the chipset isn’t mentioned, we were able to find out through the name on the motherboard.
The motherboard is written as “holi“. This reminds us of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset that was announced in January this year. It means that the Oppo A74 5G will be coming with a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. It will also run on Android 11 with 6GB RAM as per the Geekbench listing.
An earlier report also revealed that it will have 128GB onboard storage. We are not sure of the color variants but we predict Fluid Black and Space Silver. A 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging will also be expected. Additionally, it measures 169.2 x 74.7 x 8.4 mm and weighs 190 grams as per the earlier report.
From Geekbench, the Oppo A74 5G scored 523 in the single-core test and 1758 in the multi-core test. This further proves that it is really an entry-level device because the scores are on the lower side. If the A74 5G is really coming with a Snapdragon 480 5G chip, then it is not an improvement over the older A73 5G.
To recall, the A73 5G comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G chipset which is faster than the 480 5G from Qualcomm. Oppo might decide to improve other parts of the device to make it better than the A73, fingers crossed.
