Huawei sold its Honor sub-brand last year due to the heavy restrictions imposed on them by the US government. Nevertheless, the Honor brand keeps churning out smartphones. They have silently unveiled the Honor Play 20 smartphone in China.
The smartphone is currently on pre-sell in China at a starting price of 899 Yuan (~$138). It will be available for purchase through multiple online retailers in China from April 30.
Pricing and availability
The smartphone comes in three storage configurations. The 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage are priced at 899 Yuan (~$138), 1,099 Yuan (~$169), and 1,399 Yuan (~$216) respectively. It is available in Magic Night Black, Iceland White, Aurora Blue, and Titanium Silver colours.
Honor Play 20 Specifications and features
The Play 20 comes with a square camera module at the rear which houses two camera sensors and an LED flash. On the front, it has a v-notch cut-out housing the selfie camera. The display of the smartphone is a 6.52inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.
Under the hood, it is fuelled by the Unisoc T610 SoC. The chipset uses an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and it is a 12nm chipset. Graphics or gaming is handled by the capable Mali-G52 GPU.
The Play 20 is running on the Android 10 operating system. It comes in 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM. There is a micro SD card slot for storage expansion. Going to the rear, the smartphone is boasting of a dual camera. The main sensor is 13MP and the depth sensor is 2MP.
Honor Play 20 also has a single led flash at the rear and it can record in 1080p@30fps maximum. Upfront, the device has a single camera. The sensor is 5MP which has an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera makes use of the screen flash in low light.
What is keeping the light on is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W slow charging. There is no fingerprint scanner on the device. Other features of the device include a 4G network, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C 2.0. Sensors include accelerometer, proximity, and compass. Finally, it measures 164 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm and weighs 198 grams.
