Redmi Note 9 has started receiving Android 11 update via MIUI 12. When the smartphone was announced in April last year, it runs on Android 10 based on MIUI 11 out of the box. Now Xiaomi has decided to push the latest Android operating system to the phone.
The update is currently rolling out to global and Russian users. Indians and others may get theirs later this month. The global update comes with V12.0.1.0.RJOMIXM build number while the Russian update comes with V12.0.1.0.RJORUXM build number.
If you have not gotten the update yet, you might have to wait a bit to get it. The update is in stable beta mode which means that it is rolling out to some individuals. Global Android 11 update for Redmi Note 9 has 2.1GB size while the Russian has 2.3GB size.
Aside from bringing Android 11 to the table, it also takes along May 2021 security patch. You can go to “settings > about phone” to see if the update is available to you.

As a reminder, the Redmi Note 9 comes with a 6.53 inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixel. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset which uses an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.
It is running on the Android 10 operating system based on MIUI 11 user interface. Note 9 is available in four storage configurations, depending on the market. It comes in 64GB ROM + 3GB RAM, 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM + 4GB RAM, and 128GB ROM + 6GB RAM.
There is a microSD card slot with support of up to 256GB. Photography wise, it features a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor. Selfie lovers will get a 13MP camera up front.
The phone also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. What is giving the device energy is a 5020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
