Google Pixel 5a 5G is tipped to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. Recall that Jon Prosser, a tipster, earlier revealed that his close sources told him that Google Pixel 5a 5G won’t be launching again due to the ongoing chip shortage. After the rumour went viral, Google’s spokesperson came out to refute the news.
They confirmed that the Pixel 5a 5G will be launching exclusively to the US and Japan. However, a recent report shows that Google Pixel 5a 5G was listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) listing, suggesting its India debut as well. Although Google hasn’t made any comment regarding the Indian launch.
Speculations are saying that the Pixel 5a 5G is codenamed “Barbet”. The same “Barbet” smartphone is spotted on Google’s Android 12 Developer preview alongside the “sm7250” model number which is said to be part number of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. If the “Barbet” smartphone is truly the Pixel 5a 5G, then it will come with a Snapdragon 765G SoC.
Snapdragon 765G chipset is the same chipset that is powering the standard Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G of last year. Pixel 5a 5G will be the more affordable variant of the standard Pixel 5. We have previously seen the specifications of the phone.
It will have a 6.2-inch flat OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The camera module design is the same as the Pixel 5. It will house a 12MP main camera and a 16MP ultrawide lens. The smartphone was also said to run on the Android 12 operating system.
The rear panel also houses a fingerprint scanner. Other Google Pixel 5a 5G specifications include a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. Google I/O event will hold in May. Let’s see if the smartphone will be unveiled there.
